The only guided walking tour of Old City Philadelphia designed specifically for children ages 5 through 12. Revolutionary history comes to life at a pace and level that keeps kids engaged. You'll walk by Ben Franklin's grave, the Betsy Ross House, Elfreth's Alley, Historic Christ Church, Franklin Court, Carpenters' Hall, Independence Hall, and the Liberty Bell. Perfect for families and homeschool groups. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This is our most popular tour and frequently sells out. Advance booking is strongly recommended.
What You’ll See
- National Constitution Center — The tour gathers outside the National Constitution Center — a national museum dedicated to the U.S. Constitution and one of the leading providers of free civic education in the country.
- Free Quaker Meetinghouse — Learn about the Quakers and hear how Betsy Ross worshipped here at the Free Quaker Meeting House (c. 1783).
- U.S. Mint — Philadelphia had the nation's first mint. Today this site is the largest mint in the world, producing most of America's coins.
- Benjamin Franklin Gravesite — See the grave of Philadelphia's favorite Founding Father (from 1790) and hear about his incredible life.
- Keys to Community — A nine-foot bronze bust of Benjamin Franklin by sculptor James Peniston. Why are there keys all over Ben?
- Betsy Ross House — Did Betsy Ross really sew the first American flag? The house (c. 1740s) has so many wonderful stories.
- Elfreth's Alley — A National Historic Landmark and the oldest continuously inhabited residential street in America, dating from 1703. Cobblestones, colonial houses, and 18th-century life up close.
- Historic Christ Church — A remarkable surviving landmark from long before the American Revolution. Signers of the Declaration of Independence are buried here.
- Franklin Court — Once home to Benjamin Franklin — now a tribute to his legacy as inventor, diplomat, and Founding Father.
- Independence Hall — The United States was born here — and the U.S. Constitution was written here. Independence Hall (c. 1733) is the most important building in American democracy.
- Liberty Bell Center — The enduring symbol of American liberty. Let freedom ring! Kids love this one.
- President's House — Presidents George Washington and John Adams both lived here when Philadelphia was the capital of the United States.
